example: applies to something, especially a person, to be imitated or, in some contexts, on no account to be imitated but to be regarded as a warning: for better or worse, children follow the ~ of their parents.     (for better or worse无论好坏，如we promise to love each other, for better or worse, through sickness and health, till death do us part我们发誓,无论情况是好是坏,无论身体健康还是疾病缠身,我们的爱至死不渝）


pattern: suggests a clear and detailed archetype or prototype: American industry sets a ~ for others to follow.        (archetype典型: 某类事物的典型完美的例子，具备其所有重要特征a perfect or typical example of a particular kind of person or thing, because it has all their most important characteristics, 如she is the archetype of an American movie star她是典型的美国影星)  (prototype原型: 最初的形式为后续发展提供样例a first or early example that is used as a model for what comes later, 如the prototypes of the modern novel现代小说原型，又如测试原型飞机testing the prototype of the C919 airplane）


exemplar: suggests either a faultless example to be emulated or a perfect typification: cited Hitler as the ~ of power-mad egomania.  注意是exemplar不是er   mania词根表示发狂，egomania自私狂，极端利己主义者  (emulate模仿并希望赶上或超越榜样to make efforts to equal or surpass what serves as a model，如strove to emulate his teachers努力模仿赶超老师）


ideal: implies the best possible exemplification either in reality or in conception: never found a suitor who matched her ~.  注意是suitor不是er


model模范: 指值得模仿的事物，example例子: 指用于模仿的事物或是用于警示的事物（这里把人especially a person也放入something的范围中），pattern模式: 指清晰详细的典型原型，exemplar典型、样本: 指典型完美的例子，ideal理想: 现实中或设想中的最好可能。
